About
PhD Candidate • Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China
Yalin Wang is a media artist and researcher, and a PhD candidate at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing. She works in embodied museology, rebuilding the apparatus of display around the visitor's body rather than the object's protection. Computer vision reads a visitor's movement and attention as a form of address, and non-Western heritage — Dunhuang murals, Daoist star-pacing, displaced Buddhist sculpture — answers in real time. The premise is that this material is better understood through the body that engages it than through the vitrine that keeps it safe.
Her work has been accepted to SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 Art Paper; selected for the CVPR 2026 Art Gallery, the ECCV 2026 Art Gallery, the NeurIPS 2026 Creative AI Track, ACM Multimedia 2026 Interactive Art, ISEA 2026, and the ACM SIGGRAPH DAC Urban Digital Canvas Shanghai 2026; and shown at the CAFA Art Museum and the 751 International Design Festival. She holds Gold at the Muse Creative Awards 2025, a Muse Design Award 2025, an A’ Design Award 2026, and National Scholarships.
She has presented at Cumulus (2023) and the 17th Doctoral Forum for Design Studies (2024), and spoken at the Youth Scholar Forum on Case-Based Design Research. She was a core organizer of the Future of Design Research series (2024).
